GMB slapped with 105 Ofcom complaints after Insulate Britain activist storms off set

Good Morning Britain has received 105 Ofcom complaints about comments made a conversation between Richard Madeley and an Insulate Britain activist.

Last week, the presenter got into a very tense conversation with protestor Liam Norton regarding home insulation.

On Wednesday’s show, the pair got into a fiery shouting match about the climate crisis and resulted in Richard shouting “I’ll cut you off” to him.

Liam became rather infuriated quite quickly with fellow host Susanna Reid, 50, and with Richard, 65, during the conversation.

Particularly when he reminded him that his protests, that have been taking place on the M25 caused a passenger who was caught in traffic to have a stroke.

The presenter also branded the vocal activist as a “fascist” and said that his protests have to lead to “huge consequences”.

Richard said: ” A couple of days later a woman suffered a stroke sitting in a car in solid traffic.”

“What would you say to the son if he was standing here right now?”

To which, Liam replied: “We tried to get in contact with LBC…”

But Richard wasn’t impressed and claimed that Liam “didn’t care”, telling him if he says something stupid “he’ll cut him off”.

Although, the conversation continued to escalate even further when Liam struggled to get his point across, leading him to blast his opinions while on live television.

He shouted: “We’re talking about the future of the country, we’re talking about the destruction of our health service. We’re right!”

As the conversation continued Liam ended up spouting at Richard and storming off the set.

Seeing the drama unfold, viewers aired their concerns regarding what took place, with some recognising the similarity between his and Piers Morgan’s GMB exit.

One GMB fan said: “When you walk out you’ve lost the argument?? Like Morgan????”

Another penned: “Liam digging that hole lol. I’m actually cringing here, and listen up: I’ve done this type of protesting before and it doesn’t work.”

A third commented: “He done a Pier’s walking off.”

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays from 6am on ITV.
