Holly Willoughby says she's just about holding on as she returns to This Morning

Holly Willoughby made a welcome return to This Morning on Wednesday, saying “let’s get through it” after taking two days off from filming.

Keeping her co-presenter Phillip Schofield company in the studio, the mum-of-three was missing from the show on both Monday and Tuesday.

The 39-year-old was replaced by Rochelle Humes in the hot seat, with Phil explaining she was preoccupied with “childcare issues”.

Ahead of her return, Holly took to Instagram and said: “Hope you’re ok and if not …that’s ok too… let’s get through it day by day… we’ve been here before, we can do it again… missed you and looking forward to keeping you company again…”

On Wednesday, the presenting duo was reunited, with Holly greeting Lorraine ahead of the This Morning kick-off.

She told the Scottish presenter what to expect for the day, saying: “We’ll see you back here in a moment Lorraine.”

She also said to viewers as the show started: “Hello, good morning and welcome to your Wednesday morning, it’s lovely to be back!

“How are you, I’ve missed you! Are you all okay? I think we are just about holding on, ” she asked, referring to the new lockdown announcement.

Phil had previously joked that Holly was busy taking part in The Masked Singer – a show that is famously shrouded in secrecy.

Teasing viewers, he said: “Holly’s not around today.

“She’s just about to wrap up her filming commitments with The Masked Singer.

“She will be back with us tomorrow. The Badger, who would have thought it?

“Unbelievable but I guessed it from the off.”

However, the This Morning host later cleared things up, and explained the real reason why Holly had taken some time off.

He said: “We’ll also say good morning to Holly who is watching at home, as Badger.

“She’s dealing with her childcare issues at the moment and she will be back tomorrow.”

This Morning airs on weekdays at 10am on ITV.
