As Dame Arlene Phillips is gearing up to go into I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! she has put her Strictly return rumours to bed and instead expressed her interest in Dancing On Ice.
As well as her upcoming I’m A Celeb appearance, it has been rumoured that Arlene, 78, has been nominated to replace John Barrowman as a judge on Dancing On Ice.
Talking about potentially moving over to the ITV dancing show, she told The Mirror’s Love Sunday Magazine: “I love Dancing On Ice and I would love to do that.
“The producers of the show used to work on Strictly, so we chat all the time and have chatted for years. That might be where that story came from.
“I love things where people have to do something where it’s a real challenge. I admire people who do that and will get their skates on because it’s not easy. It’s much nicer to be in the judging seat than on the ice.”
It was also rumoured that Arlene could be returning to Strictly for a one-off episode, but she doesn’t think this could be likely.
She continued: “That’s another rumour running around. I don’t know where they’re coming from. I don’t think for a minute they would ask me, so it’s not even on my radar.
“I only think about things that are possible, not something that isn’t going to happen.”
As Arlene gears up for the gruesome Bushtucker trials, she also revealed that she may struggle with the abundance of bugs, which her family are set to find hilarious.
The star also said that despite creeping towards 80 she doesn’t plan on retiring any time soon and imagines it will be a gradual “phasing out” process.
She mentioned that over the next few years she is hoping to spend more time with her grandkids, but that her family are very accepting of her career and know it means a lot to her.
Arlene added: “As long as I wake up in the morning and think, “I’m going to have a good day at work today,” I’ll keep going as I love what I do.”
