I'm A Celeb's Matty Lee tipped to take crown from reigning champ in shock twist

Despite most bookies odds hailing Frankie Bridge as the likely champion, it seems a deeper dive into the historic winners of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! puts a different spin on things.

Instead, Olympian Matty Lee is likely to take the top spot – and having posted a final snap before he headed off to Wales, it looks like he’s working in favour of the fans already.

Experts at OLBG have dived – much like Matty – into the depths of each celebrities’ career, age, gender and the like to see where the odds lie when it comes to taking home the crown.

Speaking to Daily Star, they confirmed that their breakdown puts the winner as Olympic diver Matty Lee.

Steve Madgwick, Senior Editor at OLBG, said: “We wanted to see who the most likely winners of the new series of I’m A Celebrity were, beyond just what the bookmakers were saying.

“Taking age, gender and careers into account we identified what the best demographic to belong to if you fancied a trip into the Jungle – or Wales, in this year’s case!”

While their study suggested that a male music artist in their 70s had the highest chance of winning, without the likes of Elton John or Rod Stewart entering the castle this year, it’s one to miss.

However, with a male in his 20s most likely to take the win, and Olympians proving to have a strong success rate, the person most likely to win, according to OLBG, is diver Matty Lee.

Over the course of the series, 122 men have entered, followed by 122 women, and the men have often taken the crown during their time in the jungle.

When it comes to age, the group with the highest average is the over ’70s – with the likes of Harry Redknapp sailing through – but although Arlene Phillips is the eldest person to ever enter, the odds don’t lie in her favour with her career and gender combined.

One of the strongest performing careers historically is the music industry, which is why Naughty Boy very closely follows the famous diver, with Frankie Bridge soon behind them.

Matty waved his final goodbye to his followers earlier this week as he thanked everyone for their ongoing support before heading into the castle.

At the time he wrote: “I cannot wait to get in the castle, meet everyone and have a lot of fun! I’ve been stuck in isolation for two weeks, so I can’t wait to have some human company!”

The new team of celebs have now been placed together to build some unforgettable memories as they face daunting challenges – but who will come out on top?
