James Martin lost 5 stone in two months after cruel comments from online trolls

James Martin has revealed that he lost five stone in just two months after receiving cruel comments about his weight from online trolls.

The TV chef, 49, has opened up about his dramatic weight loss journey, and how his stint on Strictly Come Dancing changed his relationship with his body.

James has presented Saturday Morning with James Martin on ITV since 2017, and he regularly presents cooking segments on This Morning alongside hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

However, he competed on BBC One’s Strictly back in 2005, and he lost a mighty five stone after appearing on the hit dancing show.

In fact, the chef explained that he once lost a stone in weight during just one week in the Strictly ballroom.

Ever since his two month run on Strictly, James has vowed to change his lifestyle and watch his weight.

He recently told fans on social media: “Lost 14 kilos (2st 3lb) got to get new clothes.”

In 2018, James told The Sun: “It’s hard work because I’m a big bloke so I’ve really got to watch what I eat and drink, and make sure I exercise regularly.

He then confessed that he saw tons of comments about his weight from social media trolls.

He went on: “I looked on social media and every comment was about me being fat. So I lost a stone and a half.

“I just think it’s a lifestyle thing and also looking at yourself on TV. You kind of watch and go, ‘Oh God there’s a bit of chin happening there’.”

The star reportedly cut back on fats – especially butter – to help keep the weight off, opting for fruits and vegetables instead.

James also started exercising more, and incorporated walking into his fitness regime.

Before his ITV career, the showbiz chef was known for presenting Saturday Kitchen on the BBC from 2006 until 2016.
