Kimberley Walsh says Morning Live is 'the best distraction' after Sarah Harding's death

Kimberley Walsh has confessed presenting Morning Live is “the best distraction” after the death of fellow Girls Aloud singer Sarah Harding.

The 39-year-old hitmaker has returned to her presenting role on the hit BBC daytime show for the first time since the passing of her bandmate Sarah who passed away at the age of 39 on Sunday, 5 September.

The blonde bombshell lost her battle to breast cancer earlier this month after she was diagnosed with the deadly illness in August 2020.

As the new mum joined Welsh heartthrob Gethin Jones on the sofa on Wednesday, the star discussed how she has been coping with the loss of Sarah just months after the birth of her son, Nate.

Gethin approached the topic with sensitivity, as he began: “You were booked in with us at the start of the month, weren’t you?

“But unfortunately the tragic news about Sarah Harding, your bandmate from Girls Aloud and of course a really close friend, meant that you had a couple of weeks off to sort it out and get your head around it.”

To which she choked up as she replied: “It’s been a really, really tough few weeks and, you know, it’s still tough but I needed to just take that bit of time.

“It’s nice to be out though, and I’m really happy to be here and it’s the best distraction, so, yeah, I’m looking forward to it.”

When the news first broke of the star’s passing, Kimberley was one of the first members of the group to share a touching tribute to her late friend online.
