Lorraine Kelly faced her “first tiff” with one of her guests on Friday’s show, as the conversation turned to the much-anticipated Scotland versus England match.
The Scottish broadcaster, 61, was joined by former professional football player Chris Kamara on the show, as they debated the match ahead.
While Lorraine will be rooting for her native Scots, Chris admitted he would be supporting England – resulting in a whiff of tension.
“This could be our first tiff, Lorraine,” Chris exclaimed, drawing attention to the divide.
Lorraine laughed it off, adding: “I can’t bear it, it’s not worth it.”
Chris went on to reveal he spent his wedding night, back in the early eighties, watching another England versus Scotland match.
Lorraine was horrified, and, issuing an apology to his wife of four decades Anne, Chris remarked: “My apologies to Anne!”
The broadcaster recalled Anne walking in and finding him fast asleep on the sofa, the drama of the match tiring him out.
“Anne came in and thought this is married life,” he laughed, adding: “39 years later though she is still here!”
Later in the episode, Lorraine and Kammy watched as two ‘psychic’ penguins predicted the outcome of the match, which will play out at Wembley Stadium from 8pm.
The penguins were placed before two buckets – one emblazoned with the England flag, the other Scotland.
Much to Lorraine’s disappointment, both penguins waddled in the direction of the England bucket, which had been filled with food.
“I’ve never liked penguins,” she quipped, as Chris cheered beside her.
Fans who fancy watching something other than the match can switch over to Channel 4 at 9pm, where Lorraine and her daughter Rosie will feature on Celebrity Gogglebox.
Filming from their Buckinghamshire home, the mother-daughter duo has been entertaining viewers with their hilarious reactions to the best of the week in telly.
Lorraine airs on weekdays at 9am on ITV.
