Love Island bosses respond to viewer backlash following Faye's 'terrifying' behaviour

Love Island bosses have responded to fans who took to Ofcom following Faye Winter’s “terrifying” behaviour towards Teddy Soares.

The couple were involved in an explosive argument on Friday night’s episode.

It came after unseen Casa Amor clips of the 26 year old were shared to the villa showing him making comments about a sexual attraction to former islander babe Clarisse Juliette.

Faye could then be seen screaming at the hunk despite his attempts to talk to her.

At one point she said: “I’m done with this conversation. If you wanna speak about my reaction based on your actions, you can f**k off. My reaction was only based on your f**king actions, so f**k off.”

Fans of the ITV2 show quickly took to social media to voice their concerns at what they had just seen.

One person on Twitter wrote: “Faye is such a loud, angry and aggressive woman, and she brings very bad energy to the villa. She can go.”

Another added: “Faye’s behaviour was terrifying and I’m not surprised the girls didn’t call her out on it. They were scared of her. Why did the producers allow this to continue?”

“Sorry but if Faye from Love Island was a man she’d be kicked out [of] the villa for verbal abuse. Like, why is she there still?,” questioned a third viewer.

Many others also shared screenshots of their complaints to Ofcom, urging them to take action.

One person added: “My first ever complaint to Ofcom what I just washed was horrendous.

“Mental health needs to be taken seriously Faye needs help. That one hour condensed episode, was from however many hours of Faye just gaslighting Teddy.”

In a statement to the Mirror, A series spokesperson said: “Welfare and duty of care towards our contributors is always our primary concern, and we take the emotional well-being of all the Islanders extremely seriously.

“We have dedicated welfare producers and psychological support on hand at all times who monitor and regularly speak to all of the Islanders in private and off camera, especially if someone appears to be upset.

They added: “All the Islanders are therefore fully supported by the professionals on-site and by their friends in the villa.

“Islanders can always reach out and talk to someone if they feel the need.”

Love Island continues tonight at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
