WARNING: THIS ARTICLE CONTAINS SPOILERS ABOUT NEW MARVEL FILM ETERNALS
Any Marvel fan knows that there’s more to come in the post-credit scenes, and Hollywood film Eternals might have given us some of the biggest clues yet – as well as revealing a first look at popular music heartthrob Harry Styles in his highly-anticipated MCU film role as a huge character.
In the first of two post-credit scenes, viewers see Eternals Druig (Barry Keoghan), Thena (Angelina Jolie) and Makkari (Lauren Ridloff) on a spaceship as they head out on a journey to discover more about the Eternals’ mission and their purpose.
After the dramatic scenes at the end of the film, where Arisham summoned Gemma Chan’s Sersi and she seemingly disappeared, her fellow Eternals are worried that they have not heard from her or some of the others since they left Earth.
Their thoughts quickly turn to confusion though, as a bright light appears down the corridor and a small troll called Pip enters the control room.
His entrance soon gives way to a big announcement, where in strolls musician and hunky heart throb Harry Styles in a cameo that will delight many fans.
Not only does it introduce Harry as the latest addition to the Marvel Universe, but leads to a huge revelation that his character is actually Eros, the brother of Avengers villain Thanos.
Eros, also known as Starfox, tells the Eternals that they are going to need his help – paving the way for a possible sequel, which is only further confirmed by the statement at the end of the film saying that the Eternals will return.
It is not yet known what role Starfox will play in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or whether the character’s link as a child of the Eternals in the comic books will be incorporated into a future Marvel film.
Sersi was also asked in the film by Kit Harrington’s Dan why the Eternals didn’t help to stop Thanos, so it will be interesting to see how future scenes will pan about between Starfox and other characters, and whether he shows any similarities to his villainous brother.
And speaking of Dan, while not playing a major role in Eternals, the final scenes left viewers on a cliff-hanger, after he was about to tell girlfriend Sersi a secret about his family.
However, the secret was not revealed after Sersi was summoned by Arisham.
The second post credit scene though finally revealed Dan as The Black Knight, a superhero who wields power from a blade.
In the scene he opens an antique box containing the blade, and as he is about to touch it, a voice off-screen says: “Are you sure you’re ready for that, Mr Whitman?”
While we don’t know who the voice off-screen is, we do know that The Black Knight has links to both The Eternals and The Avengers in the comic books.
Could this lead to a possible Eternals and Avengers cross-over in the future? Viewers will have to wait and see.
