Child actor Matthew Mindler has tragically died at the aged of 19.
It comes after the young star, who starred alongside Hollywood star Paul Rudd in the 2011 film Our Idiot Brother, went missing earlier this week, according to TMZ.
An emotional statement from his college read: “It is with a grieving heart that I let you know of the death of 19-year-old Matthew Mindler from Hellertown, Pennsylvania, a first-year student at Millersville University.
“A search had been underway for Matthew since Thursday, after he was reported missing. Matthew was found deceased this morning, Saturday, August 28, in Manor Township near campus.”
The cause of death has not been disclosed or whether or not foul play is suspected.
It comes after Matthew was reported missing late on Wednesday by the Millersville University Police Department.
The student had not been sighted since Tuesday evening, after he failed to return to his dorm room.
The missing person report was filed after Matthew’s family said he “did not return to his room or return phone calls from his family,”
Police stated that Matthew had last been seen walking away from his dorm at 8:11PM on Tuesday night, and he had been wearing a white Millersville University hoodie with black stripes on the arm as well as jeans, white trainers and a black backpack.
Officers said that Matthew, who had just begun his first year of university, had attended classes on Monday and Tuesday but hadn’t returned on Wednesday.
Millersville University President Daniel A. Wubah issued a statement on Friday in a local paper called The Morning Call – after the news broke that Matthew was missing.
The statement said: “Our police department is continuing efforts to locate Matt in conjunction with regional law enforcement agencies. They are following every lead and appreciate your attention to this effort.”
During his acting career, Matthew has appeared in an episode of As the World Turns, Frequency, and Chas: An American Boy.
Heartfelt tributes to the late actor poured in on social media, with many taking to Twitter to share kind words about the star.
One penned: “so our missing and now passed student was a child actor. sad that they often seem to lead tragic lives, 19 is just far too young. rest in peace matthew mindler.”
A second wrote: “So sorry to hear he has passed away. Rest In Peace.”
A student at Matthew’s college confirmed that they had been made aware of the news, writing: “Millersville sent an email to students. He has been found. He unfortunately is deceased. Prayers for his family.”
