Piers Morgan has lead heartfelt celebrity tributes to the late Prince Philip who passed away on Friday morning.
The Duke of Edinburgh was 99-years-old when he died at Windsor Castle where he was staying with Her Majesty The Queen.
In an emotional post, the former Good Morning Britain presenter wrote: “RIP Prince Philip, 99.
“A truly great Briton who dedicated his life to selfless public duty and was an absolute rock of devoted support to Her Majesty, The Queen, as the longest-serving royal consort to any British sovereign.
“A very sad day for our country. Thank you, Sir.”
Meanwhile, his former ITV co-star Susanna Reid wrote: “Sad news about the death of the Duke of Edinburgh. Such a huge loss for the Queen and his family. His has been her constant, steadfast support.”
Megan McKenna quote-tweeted the office Royal Family statement alongside the message: “Rest in peace Prince Phillip. My thoughts are with The Queen and the Royal family White heart.”
This Morning host Alison Hammond posted: “RIP Prince Phillip , Our thoughts are with the Queen and family.”
Countdown’s Carol Vorderman recalled her own time with the Duke telling fans: “I went for a private lunch with The Queen at Buckingham Palace quite a few years ago.
“They were both in their 80s and Prince Philip and she were flirting with each other madly and laughing.
“Theirs was a love and a marriage of more than 73 years. Deepest condolences Ma’am”.
Meanwhile, The Apprentice star and Daily Star Online columnist Ryan-Mark Parsons wrote: “My thoughts are with Her Majesty The Queen and her family.”
A statement from Buckingham Palace said: “It is with deep sorrow that Her Majesty The Queen has announced the death of her beloved husband, His Royal Highness The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh.
His Royal Highness passed away peacefully this morning at Windsor Castle.”
The Duke had been married to her majesty for 73-years.
