Diana’s explosive interview with Martin Bashir in 1995 after her marriage to Prince Charles saw her claim several allegations against her former husband and Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Diana was still part of the royal family as she filmed the scandalous interview which was kept secret from Buckingham Palace.
Dressed in a powerful black suit and white blouse the princess revealed the monarchy’s secrets forcing the Queen to write to Diana and Charles advising them to divorce.
A huge 22.8 million people watched the BBC one-hour special as Diana dropped a number of bombshells about her life in the Royal Family and shocking claims about her then-husband and Camilla.

Around 20 minutes into the famous interview, Diana was asked about a biography written by Jonathan Dimbleby where he revealed Charles had a relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles.
Bashir asked the Princess how she knew about her husband’s affair.
Diana responded: “Oh, a woman’s instinct is a very good one.”
Staff who cared about her marriage also warned her but Diana said knew Charles loved someone else by the “change in his behaviour,” which made her not just think it, “I knew it.”

Diana famously said that her marriage to Prince Charles had, “three of us in” which made it “a bit crowded.”
The iconic line came after Bashir asked the Princess if, “Mrs Parker-Bowles was a factor in the breakdown of your marriage?”
The line became one of the most famous from the most explosive interviews in history.
Diana was seen staring at the ground, looked up before she replied with the famous line.
Bulimia

After finding out about the affair her husband was having, Diana admitted from the “pretty devastating” news it left her with “rampant bulimia.”
Due to self-esteem being at a low, Diana explained the condition: “You don’t think you’re worthy or valuable. You fill your stomach up four or five times a day and it gives you a feeling of comfort.”
In the interview, the Princess said that people used her “bulimia as a coat” to say she was “unstable.”
Diana admitted that this bulimia went on for: “A long time, a long time,” after the couple first married due to all the pressures.
Continuing Duties

Diana and Charles despite their unhappy marriage had to continue their Royal duties.
The couple were living two different lives behind the scenes and came together for the public and press.
In the interview, Diana said: “Charles and I had our duty to perform and that was paramount.”
When asked if she coped with the double life because of the duties, she added: “We were a very good team in public; albeit what was going on in private, we were a good team.”

Diana and Charles had struggled to keep their marriage going after they had, “both ran out of steam.”
Charles asked for the divorce after Diana didn’t want to due to coming from a divorced background.
She requested to, “put the announcement out before the children came back from school,” due to them being protected at their school.
Diana, The Princess of Wales shared two children with Charles, future King, Prince William and Prince Harry.
Diana died in 1997 aged 36 after a car crash in Paris, France.
Charles and Camilla married in 2005, 35 years after first meeting.
