Sophie Turner 'hypocrite' for royal cartoon after privacy demands for daughter

Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner has been branded a hypocrite after it emerged she would play Princess Charlotte in upcoming cartoon show The Prince.

Sophie has insisted upon her own daughter’s privacy for some time, and in May this year levelled a furious rant at paparazzi who attempted to take a photograph of her with her baby girl.

But the star has landed herself in hot water for agreeing to take part in the new comedy show, as it delves into the lives of young royals.

HBO Max released a new trailer for the satirical animated series on Thursday.

Created by Family Guy writer Gary Janetti, it’s billed as a satirical take on the inner workings of the Royal Family, seen through the eyes of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s oldest son, Prince George.

The eight-year-old royal is painted as a brat in the trailer, seen demanding a cup of tea that “doesn’t taste like p***” and labelling the Queen a “bad b****”.

And the trailer has sparked fury from fans of the Royal Family – especially after it emerged Sophie Turner would lend her voice to the programme as Princess Charlotte.

Sophie has been incredibly outspoken about maintaining her own daughter’s privacy, taking to social media in May to blast paparazzi for their attempts to photograph her child.

Sophie and husband Joe Jonas welcomed their daughter Willa in July 2020, but have kept their daughter’s life incredibly private since her birth.

Taking to her Instagram Stories in May this year, Sophie said: “I guess yesterday some paparazzi managed to get a picture of my daughter and I, and I just want to say that the reason I am not posting pictures of my daughter and making sure that we can avoid paparazzi at all costs is because I explicitly do not want those photos out there.

“She is my daughter,” the star added. “She did not ask for this life, to be photographed. It’s f***ing creepy.

“Grown old men are taking pictures of a baby without their permission.”

Sophie said she was “sickened and disgusted” by the photographing without permission, and begged: “I’m respectfully asking everyone to stop following us around and stop trying to take pictures of our daughter and especially printing them.

“It’s disgusting. You do not have my permission.”

Fans immediately turned on Sophie for her agreeing to take part in The Prince, which mocks the children of the Royal Family.

Someone pointed out: “For someone who preaches to the world about privacy and children’s rights – Sophie Turner sure has no qualms mocking a child. Hypocrisy much?”

Another added: “This series is gross going after kids, interesting voice cast taking the p*** out of children for money while wanting privacy for their child, Sophie Turner, that you hun? Hope your child is never subject to this, do better! @joejonas not cool & disappointed.”

“Sophie Turner, who recently demanded privacy for her own child, is happy to parody and ridicule a 6 year old little girl. Privacy for me but not for thee!” someone else chimed in.

All 12 episodes of The Prince are now streaming on HBO Max.
