Strictly Come Dancing’s Katie McGlynn has reassured Maura Higgins that nothing will happen between Katie and show professional Giovanni Pernice.
The 28-year-old told the Love Island beauty that she has “nothing to worry about” concerning Maura’s new boyfriend.
The former Corrie star was romantically linked to the dancer five years ago, but in a candid new interview said nothing will “distract her from the dancing”.
Speaking to The Sun, Katie said: “Giovanni is a really nice guy but I don’t really know him, we’re on perfectly good terms but Maura has nothing to worry about.

“I would never get involved with anyone that had a girlfriend. I understand that happens but I’d avoid that like the plague. If someone has a partner, they are completely off-limits.
“I never want to be that person. The amount of heartache the other person would be going through — it’s just really not nice and I’m not about that.”

She added “I think it’s fantastic when people find love on Strictly — it’s such a lovely story — but I don’t want that. I don’t want anything to distract me from dancing.”
She said that she didn’t have time for a man at the moment, and even deleted celebrity dating app Raya, but was open to finding love after the show.

It comes after it was reported last month that Strictly bosses won’t pair Katie and Giovanni
on the upcoming series.
Despite rumours that producers would be pair them up, they reportedly have changed their minds because they don’t want to “stoke flames”.
A source told The Sun : “There’s always speculation about the pairings and how they will impact on relationships. The bosses do not want to stoke flames.”
Katie is currently single after separating from her boyfriend Benji Roberts, in 2019.
Maura and Giovanni went public with their relationship at the beginning of July of this year.
The dancer previously dated Corrie actress, Georgia May Foote, when he partnered with her on Strictly in 2015.
He also dated Pussycat Dolls singer Ashley Roberts when she was on Strictly in 2018.
