Tess Daly, 51, and Vernon Kay, 46, have ditched plans to demolish and rebuild their £1.7 million home.
The couple had been thinking about splashing the cash to renovate the property to help turn it into a eco-friendly mansion, but instead have decided to buy a new home close by.
The showbiz couple were given the green light to rip down the home by the council and replace it with an energy efficient home.
According to architect plans, the property was set to be a “bespoke, one-off house”.
The extensive project would have seen the new home sporting a timber effect front door and statement grey aluminium frames.
The couple also planned to squeeze in four floors but give the external impression the house was a standard two floor dwelling.
While Tess and Vernon were keen to make the property a family home for life, the plans caused frictions with neighbours who logged a series of objections.
According to Mail Online, one stated: “The basement extension will require significant ground works into the chalk hillside … require(ing) significant removal of existing trees and shrubbery. . . which screen the neighbouring properties”.
The undisclosed neighbour also raised concerns that Tess and Vernon’s plans would result in a loss of wildlife nearby.
They claimed that badgers are often seen in the area and as such the drastic building work would be in breach of the 1992 Badger Protection Act.
The law makes it illegal to “intentionally or recklessly damage or destroy a badger sett, or obstruct access to it”.

Rather than fight the objections and risk a row with the residents, it seems the couple are simply moving to another home.
They are understood to have made £200,000 in profit after selling their unaltered home for £1.7million.
Speaking to Daily Star last year, Vernon explained how his time in the I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! castle left him ’emotionally drained’ from behind apart from his family.
In total Vernon and Tess were separated for five weeks.
The former Radio 1 presenter explained: “When you’re in there, you are emotionally drained because you are missing your family.
“I felt comfortable with that group of people that I could cry. I didn’t think about trying to stop myself from getting emotional.
“You are physically drained, too. We were eating nothing but rice and beans most of the time. I lost two-and-a-half stone – that’s weight I didn’t really have to lose.
“Tess is so, so proud. She is just elated. She said that all three of them jumped through the roof when I got to the final. They were glued to the TV.”
