The Chase turns awkward as The Beast questions contestant's quizzing ability on ITV show

The Chase star Mark Labbett accused a contestant of “guessing” during the latest edition of the ITV quiz show.

Host Bradley Walsh welcomed four contestants to the show on Wednesday at the start of the throwback episode.

The cheeky presenter was eager to see them get through to the final with some money in-hand.

Mark “The Beast” Labbett was in the hot seat trying to prevent the hopefuls from going home with the cash prize.

Ronnie, Paula, Ben and Faye all took it in turns to take on the cash builder and later went head-to-head with The Beast in an intense round of general knowledge questions.

Paula was up first and managed to score a sound £8,000 in her first round after answering eight questions correctly in the quick-fire question round.

As the contestant waited to find out which quiz champion she was going up against, Bradley asked who she would like to face.

Paula wanted to face Paul “The Sinnerman” Sinha and her faced dropped as The Beast walked around the corner.

To make things worse, the ITV star greeted Paula by suggesting that she was guessing during the Cash Builder round.

It wasn’t The Beast who thought that Paula was. a bit shaky during her appearance on the quiz show.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer said: “She just guessed her way to £8000. #TheChase”

Another added: “Uh oh Paula.”

The Beast later offered Paula the chance to swap her £80,000 for a whooping £40,000 – and she took the gamble.

It got off to a great start for Paula as she managed to get a handful of questions correct but things didn’t quite go to plan for the contestant.

She ended up getting caught by The Beast during the head-to-head round and therefore left the studio empty handed.
