BBC Breakfast star Sally Nugent said Dan Walker dresses up in “fancy dress” for sporting events as he revealed how he donned a black waistcoat and sporting jacket for tournaments in his youth.
During Monday’s instalment of the popular BBC morning show, the 45-year-old and his fellow co-host welcomed Sarah Mulkerrins on the sofa to discuss all the sporting headlines.
And as the dad-of-three shared his excitement for the 2022 Masters golfing tournament which is set to start on Thursday (April 7) he confessed how he has always tried to dress to impress for major sporting events.
As he looks forward to the upcoming golfing tournament, he revealed how he has purchased a professional green golfing jacket ahead of the event as it prepares to return after a two-year break due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The TV presenter confessed how he plans to wear a striking green golfing jacket on Thursday afternoon as he hopes to see Tiger Woods take to the green.
Sarah asked: “What kind of green jacket is it? Is it a proper blazer?” as the bashful dad confessed: “No it’s just a golfing jacket.”
But his 50-year-old co-star couldn’t help but poke fun at his outfit as she explained: “He’s wearing fancy dress, he’s literally wearing fancy dress.”
Dan hit back at the TV star as he recalled how he used to wear a little black waistcoat while watching the live snooker games as a child.
He said: “Listen I used to dress up for snooker. When I used to watch Steve Davies playing I used to dress up in a waistcoat and clean my cue with a little flannel while I was watching it.
“I used to play it on the dining room table, I had one of those where you could play it on the dining room tables.”
The crew erupted into hysterics as he recalled his childhood hobby as Sally asked: “Have you got a picture of it? I bet you have.”
Slightly embarrassed, Dan mumbled: “I don’t know, I’ll have to ask my mother,” while they laughed off his interesting fashion choices.
It comes after the broadcaster paid a gushing tribute to Strictly Come Dancing on social media after the beloved BBC One dance show took home a gong at the Royal Television Society Awards.
Taking to Twitter, Dan wrote: “Congratulations to the whole team at @bbcstrictly for winning a special judges gong at the @royaltelevisionsociety awards this week.
“It was such a privilege to be part of an amazing series. Also, all the best to the pros – particularly my professional partner & 2-time world champion @nadiyabychkova – who are back for another stab at the glitterball this year.”
