BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent scolds Dan Walker after being forced to 'forgive' co-star

BBC Breakfast presenters Sally Nugent and Dan Walker were left with an annoying noise in their ear after a rather chaotic segment on the price of energy – and Sally didn’t hesitate to scold her co-presenter.

Temporary host and reporter Nina Warhurst was on location in the Midlands to investigate the rising cost of gas, electricity and petrol on Tuesday (March 8), in a busy warehouse where steel was being forged.

But the segment was interrupted by loud buzzing noises around Nina as the factory continued to carry out its manufacturing process – something that definitely couldn’t be helped.

Turning to Nina’s segment, Dan said: “I know it’s busy where you are, Nina, good morning!”

Nina had to shout against the roar of machinery as she returned their good morning, explaining: “This is in the West Midlands not far from Dudley.

“What happens is they take this raw material, turn it into cylinders which are treated and lined – a bit like laminating a piece of paper – that can end up in nuclear reactors, turbines, parts of ships.”

But by the end of the segment the droning buzz had clearly got to Dan and Sally – as well as the rising cost of energy.

And it was soon clear Sally wasn’t happy with Dan’s moaning.

Nina finished up by saying: “I wish I had better news from the West Midlands but that’s the way it’s going to be, at least for the coming months.”

Sally reassured her: “Nina, we forgive you. Thanks very much!”

Dan chimed in: “It’s very noisy there,” as Sally tersely replied: “She did really well!”

But Dan wasn’t convinced as he responded: “She’ll be shouting for the rest of the day.”

“She will, she’ll have that buzzing noise in her head all day,” Sally agreed with her co-presenter.

“Pardon?!” Dan teased.

As the pair descended into giggles, Sally thought it was only right to move the conversation swiftly on, as she turned to Dan and asked: “Shall we?”

“Oh, go on then,” he replied – signalling for Carol Kirkwood to begin the weather report.

Sally said: “Here’s our Carol, who has no sound problems whatsoever. She’s got the weather, and it’s a busy one isn’t it Carol?”
