Cash in the Attic fans floored as scrapbook rescued from skip makes eye-watering profit

A forgotten scrap book featuring family photos of strangers during the 1950s has sold for a whopping £140 on Cash in the Attic after being rescued from a skip.

Cheshire couple JoJo and Belle delighted fans as the latest couple of the try and flog their prized possessions for cash on tonight’s episode of the Channel 5 show.

And in a bit to raise money for their local food shelter, the pair called in appraiser Kayleigh Davies to take a look at a scrap book of photos that had been dumped into a skip.

JoJo admitted that she noticed the piles of photos had been so carefully organised with captions and dates, she couldn’t bear the thought of the albums just being thrown away.

“These meant something to someone and I just had to bring them home with. I have no idea who they are!” said JoJo.

Joined by host Chris Kamara, the foursome headed over to the local auction house where they were stunned to see the photo album raise £140 after a bidding war.

The couple will donate the winnings of their haul to their local food shelter.

Other items included in their auction was a pair of WW1 binoculars, a modern lampshade, vintage clocks and original wooden handmade golf clubs.

After 10 years off air, BBC’s Cash is the Attic was revived by Channel 5, but viewers have a huge list of complaints about the show since it re-launched.

A Channel 5 source revealed that the format of the beloved show would be updated, but remain the same at its core.

They said: “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it, so the reboot has simply been refreshed.

“There’s a new desire for vintage and shabby chic, so there’s the hope that a new generation of treasure hunters will tune in.

“And so much is now online as well. The marketplace is new and fresh so there was no need to change the format.”

However, the new series doesn’t seem to be impressing viewers at all.

Many took to social media to voice their complaints.

One viewer said: “First time of watching..won’t bother again. Gave me the ick….patronising presenter, inappropriate laughter #cashintheattic.”

“Revamped #CashInTheAttic chooses a previous presenter and a guffawing football pundit (had to Google him). Just why? Appalling,” a second viewer said.

“Trash in the attic #cashintheattic,” a third viewer quipped.

Cash in the Attic airs weekdays on Channel 5 at 6pm
