Celebs Go Dating fans fumed after Marty McKenna branded women as “birds” and “pigs” as he attempted to find love on the Channel 4 show.
The 27-year-old reality star boasted that women couldn’t help but throw themselves at him on a night out after becoming a household name on Geordie Shore.
When asked what he thought he was missing from his love life, he confessed to dating experts Anna Williamson and Paul Brunson that he usually only slept with women rather than building a relationship with them.
But one thing that stumped the relationship pros was the way he talked about his potential love interests in the office.
Initially thinking there was a language barrier between the pair, Paul asked what the budding bachelor meant when he branded girls as different animals.
As the star entered the clinic he and greeted his dating experts he said: “I’ve been excited to come and find my wife.”
Surprised at his eagerness, they asked if he really wanted to find a wife on the show as he added: “I don’t know mate. I’m at a stage now where still in a bit of a I’m in a slaggy rut.
“I’m gonna be honest with you’s. I’m not gonna come in here and say, ‘Oh f**k it. I’m going on a first date with a bird and say do you want to be my bird’.”
Confused by his sentiment, Paul asked: “With a bird? What’s a bird?” as Marty explained: “It’s a girl It’s what we call a girl in Newcastle.”
Baffled at his statement, Paul added: “Do girls like that?” as he turned to his fellow expert and asked if she liked being referred to as a bird which she quickly answered now.
But Marty wasn’t ready to stand down as he went on to argue: “I say that’s a sexy bird over there or a handsome bird.”
Paul went on to explain his view of the unflattering nickname and how it could come across as rude and mean to others.
He explained: “My impression, I don’t know if that’s a positive term.”
Shocked, Marty pointed out how he had never had any complaints about how he talks about women until he walked into the agency.
He added: “This is out of my comfort zone this. If we were in a club and my pal says, ‘Oh look at that bird over there, would you shag her?’ I’d be like, ‘No. She’s a pig’.”
And the statement sent fans of the dating show into a frenzy as they lashed out at the reality star online.
One viewer fumed: “C4 shouldn’t have allowed Marty on this, his behaviour around and towards women and they way he speaks about them is so horrible, not a good role model and not someone young people should look up to #CelebsGoDating.”
Another agreed: “@CelebsGoDating How can you have Marty on this show when he’s body shamed women and is referring to them as pigs, this is disgusting #CelebsGoDating.”
A third added: “Marty coming across so gross. The way he talks about women is so disrespectful. Total red flags. Does anyone find this attractive [vomit emoji]”
