Body image trends change from year to year, decade to decade.
And sometimes, this can lead to body-altering surgery.
In 2019, it was reported that while breast implants, or breast augmentation – aka boob jobs – had decreased by 6%, breast reduction procedures were up by the same amount.
But with boob reductions in and implants out, what does this mean for the celebrity world?
It seems as though many famous faces have followed the trend, by going under the knife themselves.
This isn’t always an aesthetic choice, though – overly large breasts can lead to a whole host of issues, including back pain, headaches, numbness, and an inability to exercise.
Here, we’ve taken a look at the celebrities who took their boobs down a cup size or two.
Kerry Katona
One celebrity who has been extremely open about having her boobs made smaller is Kerry Katona.
The Atomic Kitten star previously had triple-D sized boobs, which presumably caused her serious discomfort.
She posted a photo to her Instagram earlier this year, showing off her downsized breasts in a pink jumpsuit and matching pink cardigan.
She wrote the caption: “Loving pink at the moment. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend love kerry xx.”
It was the first post since Kerry announced she was going under the knife. In a clip, she said: “I’m very excited. I’m actually a triple-D which is like an E. I’m hoping to go down to a C or a D.”
The star also joked that she would be joining the “itty, bitty, t***y club”.
She said of the clinic that carried out the procedure: “I cannot praise Pall Mall enough, they have been absolutely amazing.
“I am nervous, my mouth is dead dry. I should be used to this by now, I’ve been sliced and diced that much I should probably give instructions.
“I’m like a flat pack from Ikea – that leg goes there, that t*t goes there.”
She previously spoke about a breast reduction she had before, saying she was unhappy with it and that it had made her want to “cry,” adding: “I don’t want to have massive boobs – it’s so nineties, people.”
Chantelle Houghton
Perhaps another champion of the ‘itty bitty t***y club’, Chantelle Houghton had a breast reduction in 2015, five years after getting implants.
She was open about her regrets about getting the initial procedure.
She previously told New! Magazine: “My boobs are really heavy. I’d love to have them taken out but I’m scared. I hate them, I was a lunatic.
“When I wanted [the boob job], I wanted to change everything about me. I should never have messed around.”
Katie Price
Katie Price is known for her incredible body, but she hasn’t always been happy with it.
In 2015, she underwent a dramatic boob reduction, taking her down to a size 32B.
She said in an interview with The Sun: “I actually feel a lot more confident without my implants. I’ve grown up a lot and I’m in a different place now than I was ten years ago and it’s nice to be natural.”
She added: “I’ve had a lot of compliments on my eyes since I had my implants taken out – people say before, the first thing they would notice was my chest!”
But she emphasised her then fella Kieran Hayler loved her just the way she was, adding: “Kieran doesn’t mind what size they are. I haven’t had surgery for a man, it’s been for me. And he loves me regardless of the size of my chest.”
Amy Childs
The Only Way Is Essex star Amy Childs shot to fame in 2010, and said she was offered a number of free cosmetic surgery jobs immediately.
She said: “Being in the public eye, you get so much stuff gifted to you. At one point on Twitter, I had about 100 messages about lip fillers, all for free, all for publicity.
“Everyone was giving me free boob jobs and I thought, ‘You know what? I’m going to go a bit bigger’. So I had my second lot done then I had a rupture. I had an implant flip over in my body.
“Last year I had to have another operation when I had my children because they’d dropped so much. No one told me this when I was 18. So I want to put it all out there.”
In 2019, the reality TV star went under the knife to have her double E implants removed – and is now at a comfortable size C.
Now, she sees a “freak” when she looks back on old photos, and regrets “everything” she had done.
Jenna Jameson
Former adult film star Jenna Jameson had both bum and boob implants during her time in the industry.
But she later admitted: “When I had [breast] implants, I felt uncomfortable. I would be shy at the beach.
“I know it sounds funny, but I’d wear high-necked clothes — unless I was at an adult-film convention. So I thought, ‘Why don’t I be who I am and get my real ones back?’”
In 2017, she had her breast implants removed – but was keen to point out she would not be doing the same for her bum implants, which she remains happy with.
Marnie Simpson
Geordie Shore star Marnie Simpson has spoken out about her experiences with cosmetic surgery.
In 2013, Marnie underwent breast augmentation, sizing up from a DD to a FF cup.
But she came to regret the procedure, which left her with scarring and boobs much bigger than she’d like.
She said: “It makes me really embarrassed. When I’m on nightclub appearances on my own, that’s when I feel most uncomfortable.
“Since I’ve lost weight, I now feel as though my boobs are slightly out of proportion to my body.
“I love them in a bikini but in clothes, I tend to find myself covering them up a lot more so that I don’t attract the wrong kind of attention.”
