Dan Walker reveals huge career news following Channel 5 move as he 'cannot wait'

Dan Walker has announced some “big news” following his move to Channel 5.

It comes just one week after the ex-BBC Breakfast star began hosting Channel 5’s evening news show, 5 News.

Dan, 45, took to Instagram on Sunday (June 12) to reveal he had just finished writing his new book, which is titled Standing on the Shoulders.

The broadcaster told fans his final chapter is all about forgiveness – and even confirmed when fans would be able pick up their copy of his book.

He wrote: “Big news! I have just finished writing my book ‘Standing on the Shoulders’.

“The last chapter is called ‘The Truth About Monsters’ and is all about forgiveness. It’s out in October! I can’t wait for you to read it.”

Walker published his first book, Remarkable People: Extraordinary Stories of Everyday Lives, back in 2020.

Dan made his exciting book announcement just hours before informing fans his daughter had been rushed to hospital with a suspected broken finger.

The TV star shared a snap of her hand with a bruised-looking finger before writing: “Currently in A & E with our daughter who has a suspected broken finger, 4 hour wait has begun.”

Dan later confirmed his daughter has a buckle fracture as he thanked the staff at Sheffield Children’s hospital for doing a “brilliant job”.

The TV anchor shares his three children – daughters Jessica and Susanna and his son Joe – with his wife of over 20 years, Sarah.

Dan announced he was leaving BBC Breakfast for rival broadcaster Channel 5 back in April – where he admitted ditching Breakfast was a “massive decision”.

He told fans: “I’m really excited but this has also been a massive decision for me because I love BBC Breakfast.

“I love working alongside Sally and I love the team there, but Channel 5 came with big ambitions, with big plans, and I don’t think opportunities like this come around very often and I can’t wait.”

Dan had been presenting BBC Breakfast since 2016 but also anchored other BBC show such as Football Focus, which he presented between 2009 and last year.
