Things have taken a turn for the worse in EastEnders after Ben Mitchell brutally accidentally attacked his nephew Peter Beale.
Mistaking Peter for Rich, Ben attacks him as he leaves The Albert – only to discover that it’s the wrong person.
Will Peter be ok? And what will this mean for Ben? Only time will tell.
It is just one of the dramatic storylines that Peter Beale has been involved with since arriving on Albert Square in 1993 – with over seven different actors playing the role in EastEnders since then.
As viewers wait to see what will happen to Peter Beale, Daily Star takes a look at where the actors who have played him are now.
Francis Britten-Snell and Alex Stevens
Baby Peter Beale first arrived on our TV screens in 1993, with the role originally played by baby Francis Britten-Snell for over three years until 1996.
Child actor Alex Stevens then took over for one year between 1996-1997, with the character making occasional appearances alongside dad Ian Beale.
However, the role of Peter Beale is Francis and Alex’s only credited TV roles according to database IMDB.
Joseph Shade
Joseph Shade played Peter Beale for over six years between 1998-2004, making him the longest serving Peter Beale actor.
During his time on Albert Square, he was involved with huge storylines including being rescued from a major incident by Dennis Watts.
According to database IMDB, it is his only TV acting role.
However in 2017, Joseph made headlines after admitting a string of sexual offences. He was later handed an 18-month prison sentence suspended for 24 months.
James Martin
In 2004, the role of Peter Beale was taken over by actor James Martin for over two years until 2006.
Along with Peter Beale, James also had a number of roles as a child actor in two short films for the BBC and also as Telly in Kiss Of Life, which won a BAFTA award.
As well as his TV work, it is also reported that James appeared in a number of theatre productions, but has since quit acting.
It is not known what James is up to now, or much about his personal life.
Thomas Law
Thomas Law played Peter Beale from 2006-2010.
After leaving the soap, the actor has not shyed away from the limelight however, appearing in TV series including Casualty and Hollywood films including A Cinderella Story: If The Shoe Fits in 2016.
He has also shown off his impressive vocal talents on social media, with the actor choosing to focus on his music career in recent years and sharing videos of himself on Instagram singing and playing guitar – as well as releasing songs on streaming service Spotify.
However, eagle-eyed fans spotted a now adult Thomas making a return to our TV screens last year in ITV series The Bay, playing DC Eddie Martin, and also in the film Last Train to Christmas.
Thomas has also delighted fans on social media with snaps of his hunky transformation, showcasing his toned abs and ripped muscles in a series of photos, with one fan commenting: “Dammmmmmmmnnnnnnn, [you] got so sexy.”
Ben Hardy
Ben Hardy made quite the impact when he played Peter Beale in EastEnders from 2013-2015, joining the soap at the height of the Who Killed Lucy Beale storyline.
However after leaving the soap, he soon landed his first Hollywood film role in the comic book blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse, where he played a mutant called Archangel.
Five years later, he would play a role that would bring him attention from around the world, as he portrayed Queen legend and drummer Roger Taylor in the 2018 biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.
Not only did he form close bonds with his Queen co-stars, but he also got drumming lessons from Roger Taylor himself to develop his role, telling People: “I had so many questions to ask him. He gave me a mini drum lesson, which was so cool.
“Who gets to say they got a drum lesson from Rodger Taylor at Abbey Road Studios? Then we had lunch at this little French place down the road.”
Following his appearance in Bohemian Rhapsody, Ben Hardy was nominated for the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in Motion Picture award at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Since then he has also appeared in TV series including The Girl Before and is due to appear in the upcoming film Recovery, which is currently in pre-production.
While filming The Girl Before, Ben also met his partner and former EastEnders star Jessica Plummer, who played Chantelle Atkins in the soap.
Although the two starred in EastEnders, neither shared any scenes together after working on the soap at different times.
Jessica was recently photographed looking radiant alongside Ben Hardy at the BAFTA Film Awards 2022, after romance rumours started to circulate when they were spotted at a Jade Bird concert together in 2021.
It is reported that the stars met while working alongside one another on TV series The Girl Before, with a source telling The Sun: “Their on-screen chemistry turned into them spending off-screen time together since June.”
Dayle Hudson
After a five year hiatus from the soap, Peter Beale made a return to Albert Square – with actor Dayle Hudson taking up the role from Ben Hardy.
It is Dayle’s first major acting role, with the star having previously appeared in a short film called Slight in 2017.
Speaking ahead of his new role, Dayle previously told The Sun Online: “I am really grateful and excited to have the opportunity to work on such an institution of British television, alongside some incredible actors.
“Peter has been away for some time so I can’t wait to find out what he’s been up to and I’m very excited to see what the future holds for him.”
Away from our screens, Dayle also shares sweet snaps on Instagram of him and girlfriend India Hope, who is a model.
The couple recently celebrated their first anniversary together with a romantic dinner in Mayfair, and Dayle shared a photograph of the two of them together, captioned: “Happy anniversary my love, it’s a good job you smile enough for the both of us!”
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
