Emmerdale’s resident serial killer Meena Jutla is set to shock viewers up and down the country next week as her plea hearing finally arrives.
The killer stands accused of murdering Ben Tucker, Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh in cold blood – and has also taken the life of her childhood friend Nadine before framing it as suicide.
Meena is also charged with holding her sister Manpreet and Vinny Dingle hostage and attempting to murder them both with toxic car fumes, plus interfering with the course of justice.
And it all comes to a head next week during her first trial.
Manpreet is busy putting on a brave face as Meena’s plea hearing approaches, and left anxious when she discovers both Charles and Liam aren’t allowed to discuss Meena’s various confessions while on the stand.

Meena, meanwhile, is left fuming at the poor turnout in the courtroom, with Leyla, Liam, Manpreet and Charles all in attendance – but she does her best to unsettle the meagre audience she has managed to attract.
And to the court’s surprise, Meena decides to plead guilty to the first of many charges – but what bigger game is she playing?
Pictures show Meena in her grey prison garb with her hands cuffed behind her, but, desperate as usual to make an impression, she has pinned her brunette locks back in an elaborate twist and looks undaunted as she stands in the dock.

But her sister is a lot less unaffected by the proceedings, and Manpreet soon suffers a panic attack at the thought of testifying against her sister. In a state of sheer distress, she flees from the court and sets off in her car.
However, when she abandons both the vehicle and her mobile phone, her family are left worried about her whereabouts, as the doctor appears to have disappeared into thin air.
It isn’t just Meena who is in trouble with the law next week, as newlywed Dawn Fletcher also finds herself in hot water.

When husband Billy broaches the idea of adopting her son Lucas, it’s down to the pair to convince his biological dad Alex to go along with it, and though he at first appears to agree, he’s soon on Dawn’s doorstep with blackmail on his mind.
Alex agrees to go along with the adoption if Dawn will help him deal drugs to pay off his debts – but instead of going back to her old ways, Dawn instead attempts to steal from Home Farm and pawn valuables off.
But she’s caught red-handed by Kim Tate, and with the walls closing in on her, finally accompanies her ex on the drug deal.
Trapped, she realises she might be in more danger than she first thought when she meets Alex’s dealer – and just as it concludes, the trio are interrupted by the arrival of a police car, with Dawn soon led into the back seat…
