Emmerdale's Manpreet Sharma exit teased as serial killer Meena appears in court

Emmerdale could lose another key character next week, as spoilers have teased Manpreet Sharma’s exit amid her sister Meena’s multiple murder cases.

Meena is set to appear in court next week for her plea hearing – after manipulating both vicar Charles Anderson and her sister Manpreet from behind prison bars.

Though Meena has come close to confessing everything, she still seems intent on escaping justice and has left the Dales villagers furious with her continued scheming.

Next week, Manpreet puts on a brave face as she nervously awaits the upcoming plea hearing.

But things get even more worrying as it emerges that both Charles and Liam will not be able to discuss her various confessions to the murders of Andrea Tate and Leanna Cavanagh on the stand.

Anticipation builds for the hearing as the villagers prepare to face their tormentor in court. It soon becomes clear that Meena isn’t going to get the audience she wanted, and the killer is left perturbed by the meagre turnout for the court case.

She does her best to unsettle the small audience she has manage to compel to the courtroom – and, to the surprise of everyone around her, pleads guilty to the first of many charges.

What game is the murderer playing now?

Manpreet, meanwhile, suffers a panic attack behind the scenes as she tries to deal with the overwhelming pressure of testifying against the very sister who held her hostage.

Struck with sheer distress, she sets off in her car – but soon abandons both the vehicle and her phone, disappearing into the night.

For the villagers, concern about Manpreet’s whereabouts begins to mount.

Elsewhere, tensions are escalating for newlyweds Dawn and Billy Fletcher, as Billy broaches the subject of adopting Dawn’s son Lucas.

But things soon take a turn for the worst as Dawn approaches Lucas’ dad Alex, terrified of asking him for his permission – and realising it will cost.

Though he at first appears to accept the decision, a furious Alex ominously appears out of the dark later that night, and demands that Dawn deal drugs for him in order to pay off his debts in return for consenting to the adoption.

Though she hides the blackmail from her concerned family, Dawn is left under immense pressure as she turns to stealing from Home Farm in order to pay off the debts – but is soon caught red-handed by Kim Tate.

Emmerdale airs weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV.
