Emmerdale's Ryan actor James Moore announces engagement as co-stars congratulate him

Emmerdale actor James Moore has popped the question to his girlfriend, Sophie Edwards.

The actor who plays Ryan Stocks on the hit ITV soap met Sophie back in 2019 and the pair have often delighted fans on his social media with loved up snaps.

Now, it appears they’re going the full way after asking for her hand in marriage.

James, 29, took to his Instagram to share the news with his followers as the happy couple posed for a string of snaps, along with their beloved cat Tonto.

Sharing their delightful news, he said: “We got engaged!!!! (ft our cat),” alongside two love heart emojis.

James’ co-stars soon flooded the comments section, sending their congratulations to the pair with Amy Walsh commenting: “This is the best news! Congratulations to you both.”

Micheal Parr added: Go on my son.”

“Huge congratulations to you both,” gushed Michelle Hardwick.

Ash Palmisciano added: “Ahhh no way! This is awesome huge congratulations guys.”

“Congratulations dude! Amazing news, [love] to you both,” penned Anthony Quinn.

Sophie, who works as a teacher was seen beaming from ear to ear as she pointed at her ring made up of pink stones.

James couldn’t help but gush over Sophie as they celebrated their six-month anniversary in January 2020.

Taking to Instagram, he said: “Can’t believe it’s been six months already.

“I feel so blessed to have you and so thankful for all the incredible adventures we’ve had and will continue to have in 2020 and beyond. I love you.”

The actor who has Ataxic cerebral palsy which can cause issues with balance and coordination first appeared on Emmerdale in 2018 as Charity Dingle’s long-lost son.

Charity presumed that Ryan had died at birth and was left utterly speechless when he made an appearance.

James has previously revealed he almost gave up acting as he believed there was a lack of disabled roles in the industry.

Speaking in 2018, he said: “In order to have roles there needed to be disabled roles developed, so I was like that could hold me back a little bit.”

However, after completing a degree in Photography, he embarked on a theatre career with the National Youth Theatre with a string of small plays and short films.

Just two weeks after signing with an agent, James secured an audition for Emmerdale.
