Good Morning Britain host Ben Shephard appeared emotional as he spoke about the sudden death of a close friend on the show.
The dad-of-two appeared on the ITV programme alongside co-presenter Kate Garraway on Friday (July 1).
During the show, the pair sat down with Reverend Richard Coles to discuss his new Channel 4 documentary – Now, in Good Grief?.

The hour-long special explores Rev Coles’ grief following the tragic death of his husband David, who passed away in 2019.
As the former Strictly Come Dancing star joined the GMB presenters on the show from Bath, Ben opened up on his own experience with losing a loved one.
“I lost a very close friend recently and it was a really big shock, out of the blue,” the 47-year-old explained.
“Another friend told me, ‘Grief is like a really big wave, it hits you suddenly then dissipates and then randomly it will come back out of nowhere and hit you again’.
“That’s certainly something I experience. There will be a moment where I’m floored by a picture that pops up or a tune that comes on the radio that reminds me of my friend who we lost so dramatically.”
It comes weeks after Ben paid a touching tribute to a former Tipping Point contestant following their death.
Retired school bus driver Cath from Bolton previously appeared on the quiz show alongside host Ben.
Sadly, Cath passed away before her episode aired on screens.
Showing his support to Cath’s family and friends, Ben shared a heartwarming message of his own on Twitter.
Posting a picture of himself with Cath, he penned: “Today’s Tipping Point is a poignant one… since recording the show, lovely contestant Cath, pictured backstage here, has passed away.
“Our thoughts and love are with her family and friends.”
Ben has presented the popular daytime game show since 2012, as well as celebrity episodes known as Tipping Point: Lucky Stars since 2013.
