Richard Madeley opened up about his pregnant daughter Chloe Madeley’s “expensive car” being stolen, on Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain (April 11).
The 65-year-old veteran TV star was joined on the programme by Ranvir Singh as his usual co-star Susanna Reid has taken some time out for the Easter holidays.
During an interview with Shadow Justice Secretary Steve Reed, talk turned to the Labour Party’s recent pledge to make tackling crime a priority.
Interjecting with facts, Ranvir said: “Nearly two million anti-social behaviour reports have gone unattended by 34 police forces over the past three years.
“That shows that 55.2 per cent of all antisocial behaviour incidents were not responded to.”
“You make a really strong point there, and you’ve got Priti Patel coming in – you can ask her why the government cut 21,000 police from our streets…,” responded an angry Mr Reed.
Having a personal experience to get across, Richard chimed in: “We all have a story to tell. My daughter’s care was stolen off the driveway of our home in London about two months ago.
“She reported it, she got a crime number, and about 10 minutes later she got a call from the police saying that they weren’t going to investigate it any further because they had nothing to go on, and that was that!”
He fumed: “You know, an expensive car was taken and no investigation, no number plate recognition put out.
“It was just basically filed away and I know many of our viewers will have reports of similar experiences.”
“I mean, being burgled and having no investigation into the burglary, that is a whole different area…” added Richard.
Meanwhile, just weeks ago Chloe Madeley and her husband James Haskell revealed they had moved into their first marital home together since tying the knot back in 2018.
The married couple purchased a home in the Midlands after announcing the news that they were expecting their first child together – a baby girl.
James Haskell appeared on GMB alongside his father-in-law Richard to share their joy with the world.
Moments later mum-to-be Chloe took to Instagram on February 15 with a sweet homemade video.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV from 6am.
