Coronation Street fans will be introduced to newbie Viyona Lahiri next week, but some people may recognise her already.
The newbie is played by Sarah Lawrence, who appeared on Hollyoaks before landing a role on the ITV show – however, it would be a very long time since viewers would have seen her on Channel 4.
She once played the role of Darlene Taylor between 2003 and 2006 – but now she’s heading for a slightly different scenery, and will be joining as a reporter for the Weatherfield Gazette.
Sarah will be joining the cast of Coronation Street next week.
She teased her appearance on the soap back in February with a photo of herself from the dressing room as she appeared incredibly proud of herself.
Telling followers she “never wants to take the jacket off,” her fans were very impressed to see that she’d landed a new role.
Sarah will be playing a curious reporter who is set to knock on Daniel Osbourne’s door on Monday’s episode.
It was previously confirmed that a journalist will be looking into Nicky Wheatley’s sex worker past after pictures and videos were plastered all over the local school.
While it looks like her character has the potential to be at the centre of an exciting storyline, it’s unconfirmed how long she will be around for.
Outside of work Sarah keeps quite a low profile, but she’s still had regular stints on TV shows including one appearance on Coronation Street before in 2019.
She’s also appeared on the likes of Doctors and Holby City, as well as Grange Hill and Hollyoaks both as a regular.
Her time on Coronation Street will come shortly after Max Turner maliciously shared Nicky’s images with the school on Corrie and ultimately got her suspended.
While the future is currently looking uncertain for Nicky, Daniel says she can stay at his – but when a reporter knocks on his door and Nicky gives her a quote, she’s soon left horrified.
Sarah is due to join the soap as Viyona on Monday, but will things go down well with her arrival?
