Good Morning Britain star Ranvir Singh had to step off from the ITV programme on Tuesday (March 29) after previously complaining about the “worst painful hay-fever ever”.
The TV presenter, 44, was missing from her usual slot and was replaced by Louisa James.
Host Susanna Reid addressed Ranvir’s sudden absence and welcomed her understudy to the show.
She said: “Here’s the rest of today’s news. Now, it’s no longer Ranvir. Louisa, you’ve stepped in. How’s Ranvir doing?”
Louisa updated: “Ranvir is fine. Well, I think she’s going to be fine. We think she’s had a bit of an allergic reaction maybe, she’s got a bit of a sore eye. She’s just resting.”
Richard Madeley commented: “I think it’s the worst case of hayfever I’ve ever seen”.
Susanna chirped in: “It is particularly bad for sufferers at the moment.
“So yeah, Ranvir’s just off for a moment. Welcome Louisa.”
Meanwhile, before the political correspondent had vanished off screens, she had taken to Twitter to complain about her hayfever.
The Strictly Come Dancing star had grumbled that she was barely able to keep her eyes open after suffering from the condition.
In an update to her 108,000 followers, she penned: “Anyone else got the worst most painful stinging hay-fever they’ve ever had?”
Ranvir added: “I can barely keep my eyes open. If there was a vaccine for this I’d sign up asap.”
Many of her fans raced beneath the post to offer up sympathies as they shared remedies and complained about their own suffering.
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
