Instagram has confirmed that Kanye West’s account has been temporarily locked following his online attacks on SNL comedian Pete Davidson.
The US rapper will not be able to post, comment or send direct messages for 24 hours after violating the site’s policies.
West has recently taken to Instagram with a series of erratic posts, some of which have taken direct aim at Davidson, who is currently dating his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
He has also recently released his new song Eazy featuring fellow rapper The Game, which features the lyrics: “God saved me from that crash, just so I could beat Pete Davidson’s a**”.
The accompanying music video is a stop motion clip of animated puppets made to look like Kanye West and Pete Davidson.
In the black and white video, Kanye can be seen dragging Pete’s body by a rope with a bag over his head.
He then buries the puppet alive, with just his head sticking out from the ground, and sprinkles flower seeds on top of his head.
Later in the video, a cut back to Pete’s head shows that the flowers have grown from his hair as Kanye’s puppet leans down to trim and collect them.
Pete’s face then begins to screw up and soon after the words: “Everyone lived happily ever after. Except [redacted] you know who. Just kidding, he’s fine.”
The PA news agency understands that the content from his Instagram account that led to the suspension was deleted for violating the company’s policies on hate speech and bullying.
Such steps are often taken against accounts that repeatedly break Instagram’s rules and further steps may be taken if more violations take place, according to a Meta spokesperson.
One post by the rapper showed a dark figure standing over a grave with flowers and a papier-mache head, which appeared to be representative of Pete Davidson.
This comes after Kim Kardashian, who has recently gone public with her relationship with Pete Davidson, was declared legally single by a US court.
The pair began dating in October 2021 but they have known each other for many years after working together on the American comedy show Saturday Night Live.
