Linda Nolan clearly wasn’t impressed with the idea that she could be behind the cuddly Panda mask on ITV guessing game The Masked Singer.
Some fans are convinced that Linda – who has been one sixth of Irish girl group The Nolans since the band launched in 1974 – could be the crooning bear.
Linda started her iconic musical career along with her sisters Maureen, Anne, Coleen, Denise and Bernie in the band, creating hits around the world including I’m In the Mood for Dancing, Who’s Gonna Rock You and Chemistry.
Since then, the star has become well known as a Loose Women panelist, as well as appearing on the 13th series of Celebrity Big Brother.
But she had a “savage” response to theories circulating online that she could be Panda.
One fan took to Twitter to air their theory, suggesting Linda as Panda, Badly Drawn Boy as Robobunny and Bernie Spofforth as Mushroom.
But Linda quickly retweeted the guesses to clap back: “Erm, I can sing better than Panda, thank you VERY much! #MaskedSingerUK.”
She added a winking emoji and cry-laughing emoji to lessen the sting – but one fan quickly labelled her “savage” in the replies section.
Another, however, agreed with the star: “Linda is a wonderful singer, better than Panda. The Nolans are great singers!”
“Your singing is absolutely fantastic!” someone else posted, while a third said: “You are an outstanding singer Linda.”
Linda isn’t the first celebrity to be offended by guesses centred around the ITV show, with radio DJ Chris Moyles blasting fans who thought he was Doughnuts – eventually revealed as footballer Michael Owen – as “insulting”.
Speaking on his Radio X show, Chris said: “I’ve never been so insulted! I was in an Andrew Lloyd Webber musical! And people are going ‘that could be Chris Moyles?!’
“Now I don’t know who said it was me. If it was Davina she’s in trouble because she just went ‘definitely not a singer!’.
He later said: “Get stuffed! Shove your Masked Singer!”
Gary Lineker, meanwhile, was equally furious that fans suspected he’d appear on the show, as he blasted on Twitter: “You’ll never see me on that show… or Strictly, ever.”
One fan cheekily responded to his tweet: “METHINKS THE GENTLEMAN DOTH PROTEST TOO MUCH!” – but Gary simply replied: “Your prerogative!” with a cry-laughing emoji.
