Piers Morgan has revealed that he turned down the chance to appear on the telly after his pal Shane Warne died.
The former Good Morning Britain broadcaster, 57, is no stranger to appearing on our screens but says the death of the late cricketer was too much for him.
He says that he was hit hard after hearing the news that the Australian star had died while on holiday in Thailand of a suspected heart attack.
However, Piers says that while he rarely cries, he would have struggled to discuss the sporting icon while appearing on live television.
Speaking to The Times, Piers said: “Shane Warne was a good friend of mine.
“I actually deliberately didn’t do any television interviews [in the days after Warne’s sudden death last month of a heart attack] because I thought I might cry.
“That’s the honest truth, I’d been texting him a few hours before.”
He went on to add: “He used to sometimes say, ‘You’ve got to say get stuffed to the fun police.’
“I thought that was such a brilliant line, I wouldn’t mind that on my tombstone.”

At the time of Shane’s death, Piers took to social media saying: “Absolutely devastated to hear that @ShaneWarne has died from a heart attack aged just 52.
“He was a genius cricketer, a supreme entertainer, a fantastic bloke and a great loyal friend for many years. Just gutting news.
“Just gutting news. RIP Warnie, I loved every minute in your company.”
Shane’s management confirmed his death saying the cricket icon had died after suffering a “massive heart attack” at his villa on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand.

Thai Police have reported that Warne was staying with four friends at the villa when one had tried to wake the cricketer for food at around 5pm local time, but he was unresponsive.
The four friends had tried to save Warne’s life for 20 minutes before an ambulance arrived to take Warne to the Thai International Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Local police said: “The doctor announced the death of the person at 6:53pm.
“Police went and checked the room and there was no sign of intrusion or possessions being searched through. The body was sent for an autopsy at Koh Samui Hospital.”
Just days before his death, Shane took to social media informing his fans that he had launched an “operation” to lose weight and get fit.
