Strictly Come Dancing star Joe Sugg has opened up about his “awful” phone addiction.
In a recent podcast appearance, the YouTuber and presenter, 31, revealed he would spend up to ten hours a day combing the internet and looking for news – even if it was negative.
The star, who recently moved into his dream home in the country with his Strictly pro partner Diane Buswell, also confessed to an addiction to social media apps.

Joe told Stompcast podcast: “I was a scroller, a doomscroller.
“It became, like, trying to get a dopamine hit. Finding something that would make you laugh, or I could relate to.
“It was bad – it got to the point where I’d wake up in the morning and the first thing I would do is scroll through my phone.
“My screen time was awful — going through every social media there was.
“I’m wasting hours and I’m not even out of bed yet; it was a stupid amount of time spent on my phone.”
Joe added that while he initially tried to convince himself his “awful” screen time was actually research, he soon came to the conclusion he needed to make changes.
Acknowledging his addiction, the presenter revealed he limited his phone usage and imposed boundaries to encourage himself to spend less time online.
These included moving his phone out of his bedroom, setting app limiters and turning off notifications on his apps.
He added to happiful: “I found it really hard to admit that I thought I was addicted to my phone.
“I’m not really someone who is addicted to anything else, so what was surprising is how it slipped under the radar.”
Following his star turn on the BBC dance series, Joe now presents the Strictly podcast companion series alongside Kim Winston.
