Who will win Eurovision 2022? All the latest odds and UK's chances with Sam Ryder

The eagerly anticipated Eurovision Song Contest 2022 gets underway today, Tuesday, May 10.

The competition arrives in the nick of time with Europe in a sorry state and in desperate need of something to cheer it up.

Eurovision has been seen for years as something of a popularity contest, often thought to be a major factor in the UK’s repeatedly poor results.

But now it seems that these ill-fated isles’ fortunes may finally be improving, with some of the best odds in years being churned out by bookies.

Sam Ryder, the UK’s entry for 2022, will be singing his track Space Man in the hopes on improving the country’s utterly horrific run of form that has seen us come dead last in the two most recent competitions.

In fact, since 2003, the UK has come in the wooden spoon spot five times and has failed to finish above 11th.

What are the UK’s odds for Eurovision 2022?

According to Coral bookmakers, the UK has odds of 6-1 to win Eurovision 2022 – this number has been recently cut from 12-1, a promising sign for the UK’s chances.

Coral’s John Hill said: “Our betting suggests the UK are, not only set for their best Eurovision result for a number of years, they go into the competition with a strong chance of winning it.”

These odds for the UK’s chances are mirrored exactly by Ladbrokes, who give us a 6-1 odds as of May 10.

They do also add that the odds for the UK to finish in last place aren’t too long either, at a nail-biting 20-1. The firm gives odds of 50-1 for the UK to fail to score a point.

Spokesman Alex Apati said: “The odds suggest another nil poi night is unlikely, but not impossible – and at 50/1, it would prove to be a costly night for bookies if Sam Ryder fails to pick up a single point.”

Amongst bookies, Ukraine currently sits as a clear favourite.

The invasion of Ukraine by Russia has led to an outpouring of support for the country, as the nations of Europe rally around their neighbour in a show of support.

According to Coral, they come in at a very strong 8-13 to go on and win the competition, closely followed by reigning champions Italy, who come in with an impressive 9-2.

Mr Hill said: “Ukraine are the odds-on favourite to prevail, while hosts Italy are also strong contenders once again.”

According to Coral, the top eight favourites for the competition are as follows:
