Bethany Platt has been a popular character amongst Coronation Street fans since actress Lucy Fallon first appeared on our tellies in 2015.
The 27-year-old actress has been playing Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) daughter from 2015 to 2020.
Lucy was born when Sarah was just 13 years old and became pregnant with classmate Neil Fearns (Paul Holowaty), who was never involved in Bethany’s life.

However, Lucy wasn’t the first actress to play Bethany, as the fan favourite character was first played by Mia Cookson in 2000 and by twins Amy and Emily Walton from 2000 until 30 December 2007.
Now, The Sun on Sunday reported that the beloved character will head back to the Cobbles of Weatherfield with Lucy reprising her iconic role.
Her new scenes are expected to start airing in 2024 – meaning she will be back on the show three years since she was last seen.
A source told the The Sun on Sunday: “Lucy is one of soap’s most talented actresses who won lots of awards for her powerful portrayal of Bethany’s grooming storyline.
“Bosses reached out to her a few weeks ago about the possibility of coming back, and told her everything they’d planned for Bethany if she agreed. She discussed it with her boyfriend, and family, because she’s a mum now with a baby.
“Once they’d talked about childcare, and how best to juggle it all, she was able to say she’d love to return.”
Lucy gave birth to a baby boy named Sonny Jude on January 30, 2023 alongside her footballer boyfriend Ryan Ledson.
The actress has been open about the difficult journey to becoming parents, as Lucy suffered a devastating miscarriage in March 2022, and found this pregnancy filled with anxiety.
Speaking to OK! Magazine, she revealed: “It’s been a roller-coaster of high and low moments, with lots of tears along the way. When Sonny was finally born, we were both sobbing – but happy tears.
“But even though it was an awful time, if we hadn’t gone through the miscarriage, we wouldn’t have Sonny now. It kind of feels like it was all meant to be because if it hadn’t happened, he wouldn’t be him.
“If I could go back, I’d tell myself it’s all going to work out how it’s meant to and, in a year’s time, you’ll feel so much better.”
