Coronation Street star says ‘I quit Twitter because fans hate me, but I tune it out’

Coronation Street’s Charlotte Jordan admitted ITV fans ”hate me” after playing controversial catfishing role.

Over the past few years, viewers have been glued to their screens as Daisy Midgeley and Ryan Connor continue to grow close following the fallout of Justin Rutherford’s horrific acid attack last month.

Loyal viewers will remember the barmaid has been catfishing her former flame for several weeks while pretending to be his ex-girlfriend, Crystal.

Things quickly came to a head when the pair locked lips just after Justin was sentenced to life behind bars, completely unbeknownst to her fiancé Daniel.

Now, in an exclusive interview with Daily Star at the British Soap Awards, the actress revealed that Daisy will get to get closer to Ryan in the upcoming weeks.

She confirmed: “Yeah, I think there might be some trouble up ahead.

“I think I’m going to steer clear of social media because people are going to come for her, but it’s not my fault, they make me do it,” she pleaded.

The brunette beauty later revealed how she copes with the online hate she receives from disgruntled fans online.

When asked if she receives hate comments online, she bluntly replied: “Oh god yeah. Yeah, they hated me but that’s fine.

“I think I learnt quite quickly early days that she was always going to be a very divisive character which is one of the reasons that drew me to her in the first place.

“So as soon as you commit to playing someone like that you know you’re not going to have a particularly smooth ride on platforms like Twitter which tend to be hateful.

“So yeah, I just tend to tune out and get on with the job really,” Charlotte explained.

The actress went on to reveal her own stalker experiences after she shot to fame when she took on the role of the Rover’s Return barmaid back in 2007.

Charlotte recalled: “I’ve had nothing that’s warranted calling the police, we’ve had enthusiasm but nothing where I felt threatened.

“We do get a few mysterious cards and mysterious presents but you’ve just got to hope that people mean well and just go thanks and then run away.”
