Emily Ratajkowski considers joining OnlyFans but worries she 'won't be taken seriously'

Emily Ratajkowski has admitted her interest in joining OnlyFans as she explores “taking back ownership” of her body.

The 31-year old London-born model acknowledged that her own sexualisation had contributed to her fame and fortune – having rose to stardom after appearing nude in the video for Robin Thicke’s 2013 hit single, Blurred Lines’.

A year later, however, Emily was one of a number of high profile female celebrities whose private iCloud account photos were hacked and distributed online in a scandal dubbed “the fappening” and “celebgate”.

The hack, which also affected the likes of Jennifer Lawrence, Kim Kardashian and Rihanna, led to Emily hiring a lawyer and tech company in a bid to rid the Internet of the images.

In other incidents against her will, meanwhile, she was forced into hiring a lawyer after photographer Jonathan Leder ran an art show and allegedly published a book of her photos without permission.

“I’ve had books of photos of me sold without my consent, I’ve had people profit off of my image – usually men – and I’ve got no cut off it; actually a lot of the times it’s cost me money,” she explained in the latest episode of her podcast, High Low.

Looking back at one of the “most traumatising experiences” of her life Emily said she feared her career was over just as she began to dream of being a “serious actress”.

“I thought my career was over. It was at a point where I really wanted to be a serious actress and everyone was telling me that I’d been photographed naked so much that it was going to be hard for people to take me seriously,” she said.

“And there was a lot of conversation that these photos had been leaked intentionally, a lot of slut shaming. And they were extremely intimate photos; they were intended for someone that I was in love with. And it was horrible. I can’t tell you.”

Emily is now of the thinking, however, that choosing to share racy photos on social media how she sees fit and on her own terms will discourage others from attempting to use her body and image for profit without her consent elsewhere.

And in the podcast she revealed she had sought advice from rapper Iggy Azalea, who had already gone down the OnlyFans route for the same reason.

Emily said Iggy revealed that in many times in the past she had been the last person to profit from her own body, and so but OnlyFans was her way of ‘reclaiming her body and making some cash while doing it’.
