‘I’m A Celeb Nella risks ruining career over Fred row but one star should’ve intervened’

I’m A Celeb’s Nella Rose may feel she’s risked her sparkling career after coming to blows with First Dates’s Fred Siriex.

Ex-campmate Nicola McLean shared her thoughts on YouTuber Nella’s kick-off in an exclusive chat with Daily Star. Nella stunned fellow campmates when she argued with the chef, believing he “disrespected” her by saying he could be her dad.

Both her real parents have tragically died, but the vast majority of viewers backed Fred, who was quick to apologise for any hurt caused.

Nicola was far from impressed by the row, saying: “I don’t want to add fuel to the fire because she might come out and think I’ve ruined my career but then you’ve got to learn that you can’t speak to people like that.”

“I’ve seen a lot of people saying she’s ‘cancelled’ but I don’t agree with all of that – but that’s what people like to do nowadays, I don’t agree with it, but it well and truly may have done some damage for her in the long-run.

“She’s got the press but it seems to have backfired. But people do seem to forget about things quickly and it is very early on in the show, so if she’s lucky then viewers may forget about it, if she’s good from now on.”

Nicola suggested Nella did it for a reaction and to “go viral”, but said the argument itself was “ridiculous” and the campmate was “so rude”.

She continued: “Fred was an absolute gentleman saying to her, ‘If I have offended you, I am so sorry, but I never meant that at all’. If I offended someone, I would apologise but then if they carried on speaking to me the way she was speaking, I’d have gone ‘Who the f*** are you talking to?'”

The 2008 series star then argued that the other campmates should have stepped in and helped defend Fred.

Nicola continued: “But I’m more p***ed off that no one said anything. Why did no one get involved? Why didn’t Josie say something? Because that’s her sort of job on This Morning to lead interviews and stuff. She should’ve stepped in and said ‘Fred didn’t mean anything by that. He has apologised, so I would drop it if I was you, and you were really rude’.

“She was so aggressive when she said ‘You stay on your side of the camp. I’ll stay on mine’ and then calling him a ‘weirdo’, wow. I’m appalled at how she behaved. Yeah, she’s really let herself down because I loved her before.”
