Inside Strictly’s Bobby Brazier’s life – tragic loss, doting family to girlfriend

If Bobby Brazier isn’t already a household name, he soon will be.

For the 20-year old has been cast as one of this year’s celebrity contestants in Strictly Come Dancing – and he’s already one of the favourites to win with bookmakers.

Born in 2003 to celebrity parents Jade Goody of Big Brother fame, and TV presenter, Jeff Brazier, the talented star has already found success in both the modelling and acting industries.

By the time mum Jade had given birth to Bobby, she had become one of Britain’s most recognised reality personalities and given two series of her own on Living – Just Jade and Jade’s Salon.

As a tot Bobby would make sporadic appearances on the shows, which led to Jade starring in Big Brother once more – but this time on the celebrity edition.

It ended badly, however, after she was embroiled in a racism row with S Club 7’s Jo O’Meara and model Dannielle Lloyd over their treatment of Bollywood star, Shilpa Shetty.

Tragedy struck in 2008, meanwhile, as Jade, looking to make amends on Indian reality show, Big Boss, was told she had cervical cancer.

By 2009 it had spread to her liver, bowel and groin and she passed away with Bobby aged just five.

Earlier this month Bobby told us: “I think my mum would be proud of me for everything. Everybody that loves me… my family, my friends, they’re all really happy for me.

“They’re all really excited. They know Strictly is something I’ll love to do. Everyone is just buzzing for me. That makes me happy.”

Doting family

Following Jade’s death, dad Jeff vowed to give Bobby and his younger brother, Freddie a new start by jetting to Australia to escape the intense coverage of her funeral – something the two parents had agreed upon before her passing.

Jeff previously told the Mirror: “It was always our priority, we wanted to do everything right for the kids and that was the case right up until the moment, and it didn’t stop at that point. That’s when the boys really needed us to be on each other’s side and we were.”

The three Braziers all live together with Jeff’s wife, Kate Dwyer.

Back in June Bobby as snapped for the first time alongside Twitch streamer, Mia Moon.

The pair stepped out to attend Taste Of London in Regents Park where they were soon cosying up together.

A source told the Sun at the time: “Bobby looked really happy with the stunning brunette. He couldn’t keep his eyes off of her. The pair were laughing and joking around. They looked really cute together and seemed pretty in love.”

Earlier this week was quizzed about their relationship in a clip shared on TikTok, with the interviewer asking: “You got a girl at your spot, which song is playing?”

Bobby replied that it would be Erykah’s Other Side Of The Game.

And when asked if he played that track “last time”, he smiled: “A few too many times!”

However, he also mentioned it was with his “ex”, so it’s unclear where things are with Mia now.

Career progression

After landing a modelling job in 2019 at 16 after being scouted by Cesar Perin simply as he walked down a street, it wasn’t long until Bobby was making his runway debut for Dolce & Gabbana at Milan Fashion Week.

Further gigs followed, before he was cast in EastEnders in 2022 as Freddie Slater, the son of Little Mo and her evil rapist, Graham Foster.

So good were his performances that he won the Rising Star gong at the National Television Awards earlier this year, as well as receiving nominations for Best Newcomer and Best Comic Performance at the Inside Soap Awards.

Adding a further string to his bow, meanwhile, Bobby is now about to take part in the new series of the BBC ballroom contest, Strictly, alongside the likes of Angela Rippon, Les Dennis and Krishnan Guru-Murthy.

He has hinted that he will dedicate one of his routines to Jade, but admits he’s feeling the nerves ahead of his first dance. He explained: “Live TV is exciting. But it’s a little bit daunting.

“I think it’s going to be a rush I’ve never felt before, especially when I’m proud of what I’ve done.

“When it’s the first live show, I’ll feel excited and nervous. I’ll feel all the emotions, I’m sure.”
