Nadine Dorries left This Morning fans furious as she repeatedly continued to get host Rylan Clark’s name wrong during an interview.
Dorries, 66, joined Rylan – who was presenting the ITV morning programme with Emma Willis – on Friday (December 8). Nadine had appeared on the sofa to discuss her latest book The Plot, which is alleged to share information of a plan by MPs to assassinate former Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s character.
Speaking to Clark and Willis, Nadine was quick to point out that the fall-out from the book had been more impactful than she had thought. She revealed that due to legal letters, she was unable to discuss certain parts of the book together with Rylan and Emma.

The former Big Brother hosts then asked the controversial broadcaster how the book had come about and why she had chosen to write it. Dorries responded: “So the book isn’t really my words – it’s the words of people I interviewed when I wanted to find out what had been happening to get other people’s perspectives.”
Nadine revealed that in total, 72 people were spoken to in order to create the book, including senior Tories such as Iain Duncan Smith. Dorries commended Iain for his actions, saying what he had written for the book was “brave but illuminating”.
Clark, 35, then put it to Nadine that had he left This Morning and written a tell-all book, his colleagues would have something to say about that, but due to Nadine’s tenure in Parliament, she would be sitting on many more secrets. Nadine was quick to respond saying: “Well Ryland, somebody legally said to me that by doing this, [as publishers] we are protecting you, because we have a duty of care to protect you.”
Dorries would continue to refer to Rylan as “Ryland” for the remainder of the interview, dropping the misnomer as his name another two times. Fans watching the show, already divided on her appearance on the programme, slammed Nadine further for her lack of awareness on Rylan’s name.
“It’s Rylan, not Ryland, Nadine!” one user said as many viewers flocked to social media to make their opinions known. “Why do people call him Ryland, where’s the D?” quipped a second.
Whilst a third user was quick to let out their frustrations: “Stop calling Rylan ‘Ryland’, it’s not his f*ckin’ name!”
This Morning airs every weekday at 10am on ITV1 and ITVX.
