Maisie Smith says ‘I do’ as she makes ITV The Chase history with boyfriend Max George

Former EastEnders star Maisie Smith was quick to express her excitement after her partner Max George pretended to propose to her while on The Chase Celebrity Special.

The pair made history on Sunday’s programme (April 23), becoming the first celeb couple to appear on the show.

But when Max spoke openly to presenter Bradley Walsh on how he knew Maisie, the host was clearly taken aback when he realised that they were in fact an item.

As the audience roared with laughter and surprise, Maisie excitedly rose from her chair.

Seeing the pair’s wholesome display on the ITV show, viewers at home headed over to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One social media user wrote: “Maisie Smith and Max George currently being very cute on #thechase. Love them!”

Another penned: “Max & Maisie are making this episode.”

A third commented: “Max and Maisie’s banter added to Brad’s jokes is peak TV.”

While a fourth added: “Bradley Walsh not knowing that Max and Maisie are dating even after the way Maisie reacted to everything Max said is the most Bradley Walsh thing ever.”

Max, 34, met Maisie, 21, when they both appeared in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in 2020.

The happy couple then went official with their romance during the summer of last year and have become inseparable ever since.

Bradley Walsh was unaware of the pair’s relationship

After enjoying a number of holidays alongside each other, Maisie and Max moved in together earlier this year.

Hitmaker Max revealed to fans that he asked the actress to move into his home and took to TikTok to share the special moment with his followers.

Speaking to OK! about their living arrangements, Max previously said: “We live together now, but we’re constantly travelling around the country, with Maisie touring.

“We want to get a place together and have a base in London – and maybe somewhere in Manchester too.

Meanwhile Maisie said: “With my job I’ve had for the last 20-ish years, I haven’t travelled very much, so it will be lovely to get to travel the world with my bestie.”
