Shakira’s mum Nidia Ripoll has been hospitalised after doctors found a blood clot in her leg.
Nidia was thought to have initially suffered a stroke but sources close to Shakira spoke to American Spanish-language TV broadcaster Telemundo saying that the issue was related to deep vein thrombosis.
It has been reported that the condition hasn’t affected her brain.

The Hips Don’t Lie star pushed back her plans to move to Miami with her two children last year and the decision is said to be related to her dad’s operation.
It is unknown whether or not Shakira will push back her moving date again.
According to Laura Fa, one of two journalists who regularly report on the mum-of-two, Shakira is planning to move to the US at the beginning of April.

Laura, who reports for El Periodico, explained that she had been told Shakira had “scheduled a date to move there” at the beginning of April.
Her colleague Lorena Vasquez added: “This is the information we’re receiving from the former couple’s closest circle.
“The only obstacle would be the health of Shakira’s father and it’s been well-documented that his health is a little bit complicated at the moment.
“Shakira’s idea is to take advantage of the Spring Break in the States to be able to travel to Miami with her sons so they could start their classes when the children there come back to class.”
