Shameless’ Frank star completely unrecognisable 10 years after Channel 4 show axe

Shameless legend Frank Gallagher, played by David Threlfall, looks totally different in a brand new ITV drama.

The actor, 69, played dad-of-eight Frank on the smash hit Channel 4 show back in 2004 where he was rarely seen without a ciggy and a can.

Famous for his foul-mouthed personality and drunken antics, David portrayed Frank right up until the show ended in 2013.

But for a brand new ITV drama called Passenger, David is completely unrecognisable and looks worlds away from the famous character.

In Shameless, the Manchester native had long, dark scraggly hair as well as a stubbly beard.

However, for his new gig, he’s now rocking long white hair and a wiry and wispy beard in a series of shots from the upcoming thriller.

The new six-part series follows “a close-knit community who are unwilling to face their fears of change, of outsiders and of the unknown.”

The synopsis for the show reads: “As a series of strange happenings and increasingly shocking crimes start unfolding within the town, the residents resort to short-sighted theories and blame outside influences such as the fracking site and its manager Jim Bracknell (Threlfall).

“As things become stranger, so the people push back on Riya’s absurd notion that something is not right with this town. But what are they so afraid of?”

Fans will have to wait a while to see David in action, as the series will air on ITVX and Britbox in 2024.

As well as David, the Passenger cast includes the likes of Wunmi Mosaku (Loki) and Rowan Robinson (So Awkward).

He’s also reuniting with fellow Shameless alumni Sean Gilder, who played Paddy Maguire on the Channel 4 show.

Jo Hartley (After Life) and Corrie star Debbie Rush, who portrayed Anna Windass in the soap, are also appearing.

Aside from his role on Shameless, David has also appeared in blockbuster flicks like Hot Fuzz and Elizabeth: The Golden Age, alongside Cate Blanchett.
