Teletubbies’ “Sun baby” Jessica Smith has revealed she is about to have a baby of her own.
Jess is well known to fans of Tinky Winky, Laa Laa, Po and Dipsy as her face was emblazoned on the sun in the children’s programme from 1997 to 2001. But the TV star is now all grown up and is expecting a baby with her partner.
She shared her lovely news on Instagram by posting two sonogram images of the unborn tot. “When two becomes three,” she captioned the sweet picture.

Fans were charmed to hear that Jess, who is now in her 20s and has been working in security, was going to be a mum. “The Teletubbies sun baby is having her own sun baby!” one person posted.
“Congratulations!!!” wrote someone else. “You’re gonna have your own sun baby!!!” Another fan said that it was “beautiful” news. Someone else said that it was a “full circle” moment seeing a famous baby have a baby.
One fan couldn’t resist a question about the TV show, offering congratulations and asking: “I am wondering, did you ever get to visit Teletubbyland itself when it was around?”
Jess landed the Teletubbies job by chance when her mum took her to the hospital to be weighed. The hospital had been chatting to a producer looking for a happy-looking infant for the job, and she proved to be perfect.
She previously told the Daily Star that her part took half a day to film and that, as she was so little at the time, she didn’t really have any memories of the whole thing. “I’ve been told I was placed in front of a mirror and was laughing at myself,” she said.
“I was put in a high chair, and my dad was playing with toy cars on the ground to make me look down. I think we were there for about half a day taking different shots and angles!”
