Zac Efron ‘unrecognisable’ after breaking jaw as fans ask ‘what happened to his face?’

Fans of Zac Efron were shocked by his unfamiliar appearance during a recent interview.

The actor was promoting his upcoming movie, The Iron Claw, which delves into the story of professional wrestler Kevin Von Erich and his family. During the video interview, the 36-year-old actor looked to have a more pronounced jawline and a noticeable transformation in his facial features.

In 2022 the Hollywood hunk had attributed his change to an incident where he suffered a shattered jaw after accidentally striking his chin on a granite fountain. However, the year before his explanation, there was speculation as to whether plastic surgery had been the reason for the transformation.

Fans were shocked at what they saw when he made the appearance on Entertainment Weekly, which aired on Monday. “What happened to his face?” one fan said.

Another wrote: “Woah he looks like the villain in Avengers Endgame.” A third added: “Wow! He looks Soooo different! It doesn’t even look like him. Maybe I’m trippin.”

While a fourth chimed: “Don’t let him get the last Infinity Stone.” However, others weren’t quite so scathing with the actor’s ‘new’ look.

One said: “I think he still look hot.” “I love this man. Beautiful inside and outside,” gushed another.

In 2022, Zac made an appearance on the cover of Men’s Health Magazine, where he explained the changes in his face

During his interview, Zac said that he had slipped on a pair of socks while running at home, causing his chin to collide forcefully with a granite fountain.

Zac said that when he was injured, the masseter muscles on the inside of his face and jaw then ‘compensated’ for his injury causing them to grow in size – hence his remarkable transformation.

“The masseters just grew. They just got really, really big,” he said. The High School Musical star recently revealed that he was unaware of his sudden popularity on social media due to his altered jawline until his mother asked him if he’d gone under the plastic surgeon’s knife.

In April 2021, Efron was featured in a video for Earth Day! The Musical, where fans noticed a more defined jawline. This sparked the initial rumours of plastic surgery.

Efron’s pal Kyle Sandilands had also spoke on his behalf – saying the Baywatch star would never do such a thing, comparing him to an oil painting by one of the Old Masters.

The Australian radio host, who has known Zac for years, shut down speculation during The Kyle and Jackie O Show at the time.

“I would know if he’d had any plastic surgery,” Kyle declared, before telling his co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson that “of course” Zac hadn’t had work done.

He then said it would be pointless for the High School Musical heart-throb to have surgery because he’s already so good looking. “It’s like getting a Picasso and having a kid finger paint all over it. Why bother?’ he added.
