Kathy Burke has spoken for the first time about her secret “psychic powers”.
Comedy queen Kathy, 60, admitted that there were points that she believed she was able to connect with another world. This included a psychic intuition that led to a hilarious interaction with a cabbie.
Kathy, who is best known for playing Waynetta Slob in Harry Enfield’s sketch shows, was speaking with Line of Duty star Vicky McClure on Burke’s Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake podcast. In the latest instalment, the actresses reflected on secrets that the public might not know about.

In a bizarre moment on the podcast, Kathy burst forward to say she was a “little bit” psychic. The Absolutely Fabulous star then went on to recount how she had an awkward run-in with her taxi driver as she made her way to an event in London.

“I had a funny moment with this cab driver the other day, right?” she explained to her guest Vicky. “Just talking about other lives and what have you.
“And anyway, I was with this cab driver and we’re pootling along, so I said to him, ‘You don’t mind me asking, where are you from? Because I’m pretty good at accents and I can’t place your accent.’ And he said, ‘Well, I’m Syrian.'”
Burke then explained that following this, something clicked in her and that she had to tell the taxi driver on the vibe she was picking up from the driver. “For some reason, I found myself saying, ‘Well, maybe in your past life, you were a bird because they’re mimics’,” she recalled saying to the driver.

Clearly bemused at the strange admission she made, Katy’s cab driver turned the music off and looked in the rear view mirror to clarify what she meant. After she explained some more of what she was doing, the cab driver opened up in a tender moment between the pair.
Kathy went on to say: “He looked at me in the rear view mirror and he went to me, ‘Two mornings ago, I woke up from a dream, the most beautiful dream I’ve ever had. I was flying over Syria. And when I woke up, my first thought was, I used to be a bird.’”

The driver would later admit that he got goosebumps from Kathy’s clairvoyance skills, but Kathy herself was left confused why she had plucked that animal out of thin air. But co-star Vicky was seemingly aghast at her ability to connect with the other world.
“Yeah, that’s totally random, and that he’d woken up feeling that he’d been a bird in the past,” Kathy said as she finished off her story. “You know, I think I’m maybe a little bit psychic.”
