A woman’s “go-to Tesco meal deal” has been slammed by TikTok users who spotted a major flaw in her choice.
Tesco’s legendary meal deal has been a magnet for peckish punters for years, and despite the price hike to £3.60 for the three-item deal, it’s still a hit with the crowd.
You get to pick from a lush lineup of sarnies, wraps, and cold pastas, then throw in a snack sweet or savoury and wash it down with a bevvy of your choice.
Yinrun Huang, the woman who became a bit of a celeb on Big Brother 2023, loves to give her followers a peek into her Brit life on social media. She filmed her Tesco jaunt, saying: “There are so many great options [for meal deals], but here are my picks.”
She revealed her haul of a bottle of Highland Spring with a strawberry twist, a chicken salad sarnie, and cheese dunkers for munching.
Back at her home, Yinrun did a “taste test” and highlighted up her sandwich’s “three green lights”, showing it’s good on the health front. “We have protein and vegetables in it,” she beamed before demolishing it and giving it a “nine out of 10” on the deliciousness scale.
Then her water got top marks, with Yinrun raving: “It’s so refreshing,” before diving into her Philadelphia Light and Tasty breadsticks and soft cheese. “Brilliant,” she declared. “So creamy and cheesy. Eight out of 10.”
Yinrun ended her post by urging her massive 604,000-strong following to weigh in on her selection. “No water of any sort belongs in a meal deal,” blasted one opinionated TikTokker. “It’s no longer a deal!”
Another critic panned: “That is the deadest meal deal of all time.” While someone else raged: “This is the worst meal deal ever. I’m sorry, but strawberry water?”
Many people made suggestions for better meal deals, such as “Chicken Caesar wrap, a bottle of Lucozade and Chilli Sensation crisps”, “Hoisin duck wrap, Pepsi Max or Coke and Sensations Chilli Sweet Chicken crisps” and the simple “no mayonnaise ham sandwich, Cheese Quavers and a Ribena.”
