Carol Vorderman has broken her silence after being rushed to hospital last week.
The former Countdown star, 63, gave a major update regarding hear health after she candidly revealed she had been taken to hospital last week. She also opened up on how she ended up quitting her LBC radio show after the ordeal.
Pride of Britain Award host Carol admitted that she had been overworking herself for several weeks and that stepping back from the show gave her an opportunity to look after herself. Having only just landed the show on LBC last year, Carol had been thrilled to present her own programme, but admitted she had started to feel the effects of “burnout”.

She made the announcement last week that she would be leaving the show behind, but just days later was rushed to hospital and had to stay in overnight. Addressing the speculation, she said that the hospital stay was a “warning” and a wake-up call not to overstretch herself.
Whilst at the Cheltenham Literature Festival, Carol, 53, said in an interview with the Mirror that she was now “quite fine”. She added: “I had all the checks and everything, but I can’t work seven day weeks anymore, so I’m going to centre on social media a lot more in the future rather than travelling up to London all the time.”
Carol went on to say that in order to help her destress from her busy work schedule, she now physically turns her phone off during the night for about 12 hours. However, she insisted that it was a good idea as it could help her forget about the world’s problems.
Breaking the news to her followers on Friday (October 11), Carol confirmed she would be leaving the radio show. “Hello, I’ve got some news to share with you,” she began.
“After working seven-day weeks for as long as I can remember, I finally burned out just over two weeks ago and I ended up overnight in hospital. Luckily, after many scans and checks, we know that I don’t have any underlying health issues whatsoever.”
She went on to say that after talking with friends, family and medical professionals, she saw this as “a warning sign to slow slightly” and reduce her working days to just normal weekdays, though she admitted she was heartbroken to leave her LBC show behind.
However, Carol was quick to point out that while she may not have a permanent show anymore, she would continue to be a part of the team – just in a more temporary capacity. She went on to thank listeners for giving their opinions and getting involved, adding that she was “fed up” about having to leave.
Fans of the star were quick to gush over her, with many urging her to take it easy and look after herself. The post to her Instagram confirming her departure from LBC racked up hundreds of comments, with many saying they were “proud” of Carol for standing up to corruption and injustice.
