Ordinary Boys star Samuel Preston has confessed in a bizarre coincidence that he wrote Liam Payne’s Live Forever after falling from a balcony and almost dying.
One Direction heartthrob Liam has died at the age of 31, after falling from the third floor of the Buenos Aires’ CasaSur Palmero Hotel. No official toxicology reports have been released but there has been speculation about whether the star was under the influence.
Samuel, 42, has now told how he nearly lost his own life in a fall, saying it was a “heartbreakingly similar set of circumstances”.

The star shared a snap from Spotify of Live Forever – which he penned together with other writers – as he paid tribute to Liam.
“This hit f****** hard,” he wrote, along with a pink heart emoji. “I wrote this song after falling off a balcony and nearly dying in a heartbreakingly similar set of circumstances. I really miss this man.”
Live Forever, which featured the US DJ trio Cheat Codes, was one of the tracks that was on Liam’s debut studio album LP1, which he released in 2019.
In 2017, Samuel opened up about his accident, which saw him end up in a hospital in Denmark after plunging from a balcony during a night out. He shared a picture on Instagram that showed him sat in a wheelchair after the incident .
He told his followers on the platform: “If I haven’t been texting you back it’s because I fell off a 2nd floor balcony in Denmark and broke my leg in four places, pelvis, hip, foot, ribs, shoulder blade, punctured a lung and smashed my left hand to pieces.”
He went on: “I know a wise man once said ‘boys will be boys’ but seriously I drank too much and was careless and please don’t abuse your privileges. I think I’m going to do the next 30 years sober.”
Samuel – who was a Celebrity Big Brother housemate in 2006 – thanked his girlfriend and mum for “flying over to spoon feed me”. “To quote Garth Marenghi ‘it really hurts’ SENDING LOVE,” he added.
